We have 2 bird feeders with seed. One of them, outside the bedrood window, has 3 compartments for different kinds of seed. The most popular seed is the black sunflower seed. The other feeder is a simple platform and it seems to be the most popular. We use some finch food to attract the beautiful painted buntings that show up this time of year. The birds we see most are the mourning doves. We watch them raise their family each spring and introduce the young to the feeder.

The biggest show of all is the humming birds. We have so many they drink a feeder full in less than 2 days. The feeder has 4 “blooms” and at times there is a hummer on each bloom. The first hummer I saw this year was on April 15. I had not put the feeder up yet and he was hovering and looking at the hook where I hang it. I thought how amazing it was that he could remember the feeder after flying to South America and back.
